Ladies: I don't get why everyone is so excited about her, but with a 4th place finish in Vancouver, Mirai Nagasu looks to be on the way up. Ksenia Makarova could also do well. I'm not very familiar with the junior ladies, except for Polina Shelepen, and I'm waiting to see if her jumps survive puberty. Hopefully at least one of the younger Russian ladies will do well in the next quad!

Men: The men's field at the next Olympics might be as deep as this one (and hopefully, a better skater will win than did this time Wink )... My money is on Adam Rippon (already a 4CC winner, and with Orser as his coach) and Michal Brezina. I worry about Florent Amodio, who doesn't seem very consistent, and has a crazy federation on top of that. I hope that Yuzuru Hanyu will transition well to senior skating.

Dance: Samuelson and Bates should move up quickly if they get programs worthy of their talents - and they'll need to, because the Shibutanis really are that good.

Pairs: no idea whatsoever.

Next Quad?? Secret message there?
What about that russian 13 year old marvel Mishin is training? I hope puberty wont kill her jumps.

Well, even I don't expect the ladies to start doing quads . Mishin is training Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, but I know nothing about her other than that she is indeed 13.

among men, michal seems to improve further i guess. Eyes should also be on the junior yuzuri. He might be the new japanese men. Thoigh i like javi very much, i'm not sure he'll be let to run for title by the ISU!!

For ladies, among the fresh seniors i do not have any candidate for title. And no idea about juniors. I'm gonna look at 13-year old russian girl.

Congratulations on the new forum  ! You guys (girls Wink ) did a really nice job and I hope a lot of people will join us!

Now back on topic, what about Artem Borodulin? I have a feeling that unless King Plushenko will go for Sochi, Piseev will push this kind forward and he seems to have a lot of potential.
As for Javier, I really really like him, but he’ll need to leave Morozov or find a different choreographer.
Oh, and Denis Ten. The talent is obviously there, but he needs to grow up a bit more.

Thanks for the good wishes Ginger. Hope it'll work out.
As for Borodulin, I like his style but I dont feel its very Russian or am I crazy? Very Happy
Coming back to Javi, as Vontiebolt suggested two posts above, I cannot see him running for gold cos I doubt he'll be a favourite by judges. Morozov might be a factor in that respect as well. However, as I am ashamed to say it, I actually like Morozov's choreos this season. Oda's Chaplin and Javi's pirates are both wonderful and in my book they are what choreo should be about. I think I may be to sick and tired being sold endless transitions (oopsie, I used the Voldemort word) as choreo Sleep so I cherished both programmes a lot. But the end result is that judges (COP) disagreed and neither scored particularly good on PCS.
Denis Ten, like Brezina, needs to find himself on the ice and develop an ice persona.
Btw, I found the link for the 13 year old russian marvel Tuktamysheva. I like her a lot and this programme inspires me:

I see your point, of course. But unfortunately, we must acknowledge the role of politics in this sport, and like I said Piseev will push him forward. The Russians will not allow themselves to reach Sochi w/o a strong team. Especially after this Olympic (that I'm still trying to forget), the'll go for blood bath Smile

I definitely share that thought
Even Eurosport guys started to talk about "the component score who shall not be named" ( Wink ) ... It's an epidemic!

Since when Mishin is training ladies? Isn't it a big no-no for him? And while I'm at it: Has anyone ever caught him smiling?
Ok. I'm impressed and surprised by her. I like her style much more than Leonova. Of course she's still very very young.

ETA: LOL how they all leaned forward simultaneously to look at her score!

Yes, i see where you're coming from. They must be furious by how this thing turned out for them and Borodulin is the obvious choice to push forward.

My god, you noticed it too?? isnt it a nightmare? Its an epidemic and its gotten hold of the best as well! Simon and Chris went on and on about how this programme should score high on PCS cos its got "the thing we shall not name" or this programme is not well choreographed cos it hasnt got "the thing we should not name". PPL, WAKE UP, WHEN DID YOU FORGET WHAT CHOREO WAS ACTUALLY ABOUT? WATCH SOME YAGUDIN FOR GOD'S SAKE! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Yes, he said many times Russian girls are only good for contruction work or smth similar and they do not make good skaters. Apparently he's hoping to be proven wrong with Tutykutunamshkabva (Im sorry i cannot learn or spell her name!)

Wasn't really sure where this should go and I didn't think that a depressing thread all to it's own was warranted but i just read on FSU that Jenni Vahaama has confirmed on her official website that she will not continue with competitive skating after all.

I'm crushed, I absolutely loved her skating at Europeans the year the Finns did so well and had high hopes. Crying

Oh, Jenny...

I was hoping she'd be back after all, she had so much potential. But I guess if her heart wasn't in it, it's better to stop now and do what's right for herself.

Are there any promising Finnish ladies in the novice/junior ranks? We need some Finnish posters with inside information! (or at least a working knowledge of the language for translation purposes Wink)

I was hoping that Nob would medal at this past Worlds. But his plan to work with Barkell for the next four years with his school and family behind in Japan does not sound realistic. My money is now on Koz and Yuz. Koz really needs to develop artistically to challenge Patrick. It's possible for Yuz to medal at GPs if he is lucky.

Adam is cute and has good charisma.

Mirai is a question mark. Her success depends so much on the tech callers just as much as Mao's. Kanako is charming, but Mirai may have better techniques.
