First opportunity to see some of the new programs, and maybe some new elements from some of the skaters!

Next week, it's the Liberty Summer Competition, followed by Skate Detroit the week after and the Indy Challenge at the end of the month. Are there any other events of interest? Does anyone know which skaters are doing which events?

I know Ashley Wagner is planning to debut her SP at Liberty.. Still no word on her music though..

So by now we know that Ashley is skating to Kashmir for her SP (cool) and Malaguena (which she has yet to debut, right?). And that she fixed her lutz. Of course Chan had the highest score among the men, and he was followed by Keegan Messing (who'll skate junior next year).

At Skate Detroit, all the men had jump issues and the winning score was 175, or something like that. Christina Gao won the ladies' event with a score of 159.07.

Next weekend is the Lake Placid ice dance competition, and while I have no idea who'll be there, I believe this will be the first event to include the new short dance.

A good source for information on all the summer events is Sylvia's twitter and website, Unseen Skaters.

There is also the Quebec Summer Championships (D/D, Phaneuf, Sawyer, maybe Balde) and Thornhill Summer Skate (many Canadian senior pairs, and I know Oda will be competing there as well)

Thornhill Summer skate is this weekend, and this blog has some photos and brief reports. Plus a guest appearance by Brian Joubert (who was not competing). Nobunari Oda apparently WD from the event, and Duhamel/Radford - competing in singles this time - won the men's and ladies' senior SP category. Thornhill is being shown on Skatebuzz, so I'm expecting some videos online soon.

My previous post got deleted, but since it was just Glacier Falls and a short note re the Quebec summer competition, I won't try to rewrite it.

It's better than nothing, but I must say, summer competitions aren't nearly as fun as the real thing. I am so looking forward for it to end and the skating season to start!
